Hi
I’m Prathyusha (Prathy) Kamasani - a solopreneur helping teams bring clarity and impact to their data using Microsoft BI tools.
With over 15 years in the data world, I’ve done everything from building traditional data warehouses to designing modern, user-focused reports in Power BI. These days, I specialise in blending design and data to create solutions that not only work - they make sense.
My work is rooted in a design-first approach. Because good data isn’t just about numbers - it’s about communication, context, and user experience. Whether it’s modelling in Microsoft Fabric or building visual stories in Power BI, I care deeply about making data feel intuitive and insightful.
You’ll usually find me deep in a data model, running a workshop, or speaking at community events - especially the London Fabric User Group, which I started back in 2016.

My Story
The name Data Nova says it all - I’m here to make your data shine, turning complexity into clarity for the people who rely on it.
I’m Prathyusha (Prathy) Kamasani, and I’ve spent over 15 years in the data world, working across everything from old-school SSIS packages to modern self-serve BI platforms. I started out building data warehouses with tools like SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, and SQL Server. But when Power BI arrived, something clicked - suddenly, I could tell stories, not just serve up numbers.
That’s when I found my sweet spot: combining design and data to help teams make smarter, more human-friendly decisions.
👩🏾💻 What I Do
As a solopreneur, I work closely with organisations to help them define and elevate their BI strategy - from early-stage discovery to scalable delivery and adoption.
This isn’t just about building dashboards. It’s about creating systems, standards, and culture that make data usable across the business.
Here’s how I help:
-
Clarify your BI and Microsoft Fabric strategy
-
Design metadata-driven, scalable Power BI frameworks
-
Build governed self-serve reporting ecosystems
-
Support discovery and MVPs in Microsoft Fabric
-
Establish COEs, governance models, and adoption plans
-
Coach teams on UX, storytelling, and visual best practices
Everything I do is rooted in a design-first mindset, proven frameworks, and years of real-world experience - helping you move from messy reports to meaningful insights.
💜 Community Is Everything
In 2016, I started the London Power BI User Group, which quickly became one of the most active BI communities in the UK. We meet monthly in Central London to share ideas, learn from industry experts, and connect over a shared love of data.
My ongoing contributions to the community have been recognised with a Microsoft MVP award and the Microsoft FTRSA recognition in 2021 and 2022.
🚀 Where I’m At Now
After contributing to BI teams as a director at Avanade and previously at Altius, I launched Data Nova to focus on what I do best - designing human-centric, strategic BI solutions.
With the arrival of Microsoft Fabric, the timing couldn’t be better. It brings together everything I believe in: scalable architecture, seamless reporting, and user-first design. I’ve had the honour of presenting alongside the Microsoft Product Group and sharing practical strategies at major conferences and user groups.
